Dubai South, as its name implies is an area south of Dubai and is the registered trademark of the Dubai Aviation City Corporation, is the licensing authority of the free zone. It changed its name from Dubai World Central (“DWC”) to Dubai South in 2015. Dubai South has its well detailed-master plan including several districts dedicated to logistics, aviation, humanitarian sector, residential, commercial, leisure, exhibition and commercial around the centerpiece of the plan which is the airport.
It is home to the world's largest airport to date – the Al Maktoum International Airport with the one of the famous logistics district named Jebel Ali – and it is built to host landmark events such as World Expo 2020 and the Dubai Airshow.

The fees for all licenses (except General Trading) are currently AED 10,000 per year, per license, payable in advance. The fees for a General Trading license are currently AED 20,000 per year, also payable in advance.

- The timeline to incorporate a company in Dubai South Free Zone is between 7-10 working days.
There can be 1-3 shareholders and directors required with a shared desk or shared office facility and 1-6 for companies with a permanent office.
- The company’s Manager should be a UAE resident.
- The minimum capital of a DWC-LLC company is AED 300,000. If the capital is AED 1,000,000 or more, then a proof of capital is required.
- Audit report should be filed with the registrar at the time of license renewal. For new companies however, an audit report is required for 2nd year renewal and onward.
- The details of shareholders, directors, and manager are provided to the Dubai South Free Zone authority. However, this information is not publicly available.
- A Dubai South Free Zone company can immediately arrange residency visas after obtaining its license. It can apply for a shareholder visa or an employment visa, with a visa validity period for three (3) years.
- The minimum age for acquiring a residence visa is 21 years old.
- UAE resident visa holders should not remain outside of the UAE for more than 180 consecutive days, otherwise, the visa will be invalid and consequently canceled.
- The visa cost is around AED 8,000.
SHARE CAPITAL: minimum share capital requirement is AED 300,000 or USD 82,190. Depositing into bank account is not required.
LICENSE VALIDITY: 1 year only, as in any other emirate, after which the license needs to be renewed.
AUDIT: Dubai South Free Zone Authority requires that member companies submit annual audit reports.
